Privacy policy
1. Introduction We hope we’ve made our Privacy Policy as simple as possible and that you will read it. We promise two things which are very important: a. To give the best possible service we can to our members b. Never to pass on any of your personal information on to anyone else – unless we have your specific permission (or if we have to for legal proceedings)
2. About the information we collect If you want to be a member of Flutewise we need certain information from you. This includes your name (first name and surname), address, telephone number, email address, date of birth, gender, playing standard and a password for entry to the site. This information is only available to Flutewise administrative staff. If you are coming on a residential course we might ask for your permission to share some of your information with other course members to help with travel, etc. We also use Cookies on our website to find out about the most popular visited areas. If you want to learn more about cookies you can read about them on Wikepedia
3. Why we need the information and how we use it The reason we need the above information is so we can clearly identify all of our members and to try and help us make sure the content of our website, magazine and events are suitable for the people who are members.
4. Flutewise Membership We welcome anyone who is interested in the flute to become a member of Flutewise and receive our magazine, have the opporunity to attend our events and access our website. All Flutewise members have access to the ‘members only’ part of our website. On this site you can upload your profile. This information will be viewable by all other Flutewise members, so it is important only to include information you are happy for all of us to see. Members are welcome to alter their profile or remove it at any time.
5. Protection of young people We take the protection of young people very seriously and everyone under the age of 16 needs the permission of their parent or guardian to join Flutewise. As payment needs to be made to access the ‘members only’ section, it is assumed that a parent or guardian will pay for this and by doing so, approves the young person’s involvement. A parent or guardian of a Flutewise member may access our site if they wish to check that they are happy with it. Adults (flute players, flute teachers and other interested people) are welcome and encouraged to become members not only to enjoy the work but also to support us doing more for young people. However, they will only be accepted if all the information requested on the joining form is completed. This is so we can identify and trace any of our members which we feel is important for child protection issues.
