Do I have to pay to use the website?

There are some free parts of our website – the Flutewise Blog, What’s New and information about events. If you want to access the ‘members only’ section you will need to join Flutewise.

What are the benefits of Flutewise membership?

As a Flutewise member you'll join a club of really friendly, helpful people who all enjoy playing the flute. You will receive our fabulous quarterly magazine in the post, you will be able to book places on any of our events and you will have full access to our website.  Please see the joining form for costs of membership.

What will I find in the ‘members only' section of the website?

You can complete your own profile, adding as much or little information as you like. You can have a photo, flute playing details, other hobbies etc…

There will also be a new article or piece of music every single day and a huge archive of articles, music for you to play, reviews of new music, CDs and instruments as well as competitions to enter and details of events to attend.You'll find plenty of music to play including pieces and scales/areggios you could use for Grade exams and ensemble pieces useful for school flute choirs.

Not only is the Flutewise website a great resource of information about how to play the flute it is a great flute social networking site.

What age of flute player is Flutewise aimed at?

Flutewise is aimed at young flute players aged 8 to 18 but we welcome players of all ages as we know from experience over the years that a great number of adults really enjoy our work and teachers find the magazine invaluable. Our residential courses are currently for young people only but adult members are welcome to attend many of our day events.

Is the Flutewise website safe for children?

We take child protection issues very seriously here at Flutewise. Our website is designed with young people in mind. Parents are encouraged to be as involved as possible and to monitor all of their child’s activities on the internet. We ask all of our members to restrict the personal information they give on their profile. We promise to monitor everything as carefully as we can.

I don’t live in the UK. Can I become a member?

Yes! Membership (receiving the magazine through the post, having access to the website and being able to book events) is available to anywhere in the world. Please check the prices on the joining form* the annual membership fee includes airmail postage.
