Flutewise in Croatia 2012
For many years now, Liz Goodwin has been running a summer course for young flute and fife players in Croatia.
In past years, the course has run for 3 hours every morning in the beautiful medieval castle, Kastel Luksic. It is attended by many local children and also Flutewise members from the UK. You can read about past courses, travel, places to stay on the Blog. If you are interested in coming, please contact Liz as soon as possible. There is the possibility of unaccomapnied flute players being able to come, see below. You might also enjoy watching this and this.
The proposed course this year will be for 1 week – Monday 20 August until Friday 24 August. Individual flute players aged 13 – 19 are welcome to attend either on their own or with a friend, providing their parents think this is a good idea. Families with young flute players are very welcome to join us. We can be accommodated in Villa Soulavy or an alternative villa, which is 300 metres away from Villa Soulavy. All meals can be provided at Villa Soulavy. It is suggested that flute players wanting to take part in the course should fly out on Sunday 19 August and return home on Sunday 26 August. Families can arrive much earlier or extend their holiday after the course.
Costs involved for an individual are:
• Flight to Split airport* - easyJet fly there. Flights need to be booked individually as Flutewise will not be able to make a block booking.
• Accommodation - this is around 20 euros per day per person (depending how many people are in an apartment)
• Food - around 20.50 euros a day full board
• Course fee - is in the region of £50-£60
• Transfers to and from Split airport (maximum £10)
• Spending money
For families, Villa Soulavy offers various apartments at 65 euros per night. Families are welcome to opt into the food option if they wish.
It is a wonderful place to go and a totally unique experience.
If you are thinking of joining Flutewise in Croatia this summer, we need to know very soon to make sure we can have the accommodation.
*Flying Information Flutewise cannot offer to escort unaccompanied children on the flight until we know who might be going nearer the time. We will arrange to meet people at Split airport.
