Working ...
I always know when I'm really busy - my office becomes a complete tip! This morning I came down to find the floor and every other surface covered in books containing grade exam material . That is because yesterday we spent time sorting out the repertoire for Gareth Davies' set in our concert at the Cadogan Hall on 25 March.
Gareth's idea of playing music from the grade exam repertoire is great. Enormous thanks to him and enormous thanks to everyone who made suggestions. I had a huge list in the end. So what I did was go through it carefully and made a shorter list of pieces that had been requested several times. That was fascinating. I'll let you know what it was sometime soon. Then Gareth and I put our heads together and very quickly came up with a programme he wants to play. I'm just waiting for his final confirmation. It's looking good though. We've got at least one piece for each grade and it seems a lovely, balanced programme. We are restricted with time - as Andy, Ian and Mike also have to play and we do have to be out of the venue that night. So although I think some people might be disappointed not to hear their particular favourite piece, I'm sure everyone will love the choices.
We are also working on the layout to the Programme Guide and I hope this will be ready to go off to the printers by the end of the week. After I get that signed off I'll be able to tidy my office! I'll also have time to update the events section of the website and let everyone know exactly what is going to be played at our concert.
Hope you've booked your tickets - hurry up if you haven't and please tell all the other flute players you know.
