Victoria and Albert instrument removal

I've just been sent an email by a friend about the Victoria and Albert Museum who are trying to sell off their collection of musical instruments dating back to the 14th century.
There is a petition to the government organised by Jay Wilkinson which has already attracted many important names in a few days.

The petition reads: 'We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to ensure that all members of the public have continued, free and open access to the complete historic and valuable musical instrument  collection entrusted over generations to the Victoria and Albert Museum, and currently exhibited in Room 40 (Jan 2010)'

If you think this is important, and I do, can you sign the petition and ask other interested people to do so? If you are interested in music, you never know when you personally might need this valuable resource.

The petition website is:

I went to the V&A musical instrument collection on the final day before closure. Photos here: http://brightcecilia.com/features/victoria-and-albert-museum-instrument-...
