My Happy Groundhog Birthday
It was my birthday yesterday. When I was at school I always got the reading to do in assembly, February 2nd being Candlemass. Having the honour of doing 'the reading' was meant to be an award, but I hated it, it always ruined the start of my day as I was so scared. I always got chosen to do it as I stuck my hand up to answer the question, "What is significant in the Christian calandar about February 2nd?" Of course I was the only one who knew the answer - and stupid enough to offer the answer every year!
Then a few years ago my birthday got much better. I saw the film Groundhog Day. If you haven't seen it, you really should. It's about a man who goes to sleep but when he wakes, it is the same day - over and over again. After seeing this, I decided to give myself permission to be the same age over and over again! I think we should watch Groundhog Day at the next residential course.
Yesterday was lovely. No stress of getting up to read in assembly. I had lots of lovely cards, messages, phone calls and presents. I even had a new ukulele. It's lovely, but what do I do with my pretty pink one? Another amazing thing I had was the cake in the photo. My son, Mark, had it made from me. So now I'll have to have a party!

Glad you enjoyed your birthday Liz - Are you like the groundhog? Can we tell what the weather will be like depending on whether you get up??? Beautiful cake

Happy belated birthday Liz! What a superb cake. How lucky are you to be legitimately allowed to have the same birthday over and over!
