Lucky Girls

Lucy Rhianna and Daisy can be seen in the photo with Gareth Davies after the LSO Family concert on Sunday 24 June at the Barbican. Gareth, who is our Flutewies Artist of the Year, kindly offered to have two Flutewise members sit in the flute section during the concert. Daisy and her mum have written a bit about it and we will look forward to hearing from Rhianna soon.

Enormous thanks to Gareth for making this possible and for offering it maybe again! It was great to go to the excellent concert, chat with Gareth and then meet up with Abbie, Gareth McLearnon and Martha - and I saw Flutewise members Hannah and Sarah.

Daisy writes:

Hi Liz and Gareth I was right it was awesome thank you so much for picking me to sit with the London sympathy orchestra. I would love to do it again but I expect I fidgeted toooooo much there was so much to see and it was very noisy but such an amazing feeling and experience for me.

Gareth I wish I was like you and got to do it all the time and that when I picked up my flute I was really able to play all the notes. Thanks for being so nice to me I will never forget my day.

After a truly amazing day at the barbican where my beautiful daughter Daisy got to sit with Gareth Davies and the London Symphony Orchestra, I felt I must yet again sing the praises of Liz and the Flutewise team. What an amazing oportunity to give a young child and one I am 100% sure she will never forget. I was so proud of her to be able to go up on stage and play along to the race in front of all of those people something I wouldn't be able to do now let alone as a 9 year old!
Daisy has had an amazing Flutewise year attending some of the workshops including Cadogan Hall where we all thoroughly enjoyed the wrong concert, I really feel that these opportunies are invaluable for the children and help them to see their flute playing in the real world instead of just at school in their lesson.

She has told Gareth that she wishes she could be him so watch this space! Mind you I think she fidgets even more than he does!
