Holiday/Jethro Tull/Magazine/Events
I've been away for a short holiday. It was lovely to get away from the cold weather here. We went to Lanzarote, to Playa Blanca to be exact (I know there are lots of nosey people reading this!) We had an unexpected bottle of champagne in our hotel room when we arrived and three jars of marmalade. Now the fizzy liquid was a lovely surprise and very welcome, but marmalade? What was that all about? The weather was absolutely perfect as far as I was concerned, 23-24 degrees with a breeze some of the time. Our hotel was excellent as was the food. We didn't venture far from the hotel at all; there didn't seem a need. I read a few books, listened to some excellent music and chatted. I thought one day I heard a flute playing, but we never found it. Maybe that was a good thing, a flute-free week.
As soon as we got back we went to a Jethro Tull gig in Brighton. If you don't know, Jethro Tull is a rock band and their lead is a flute player - Ian Anderson. Ian has always been involved with Flutewise and last year did a great show for us at the Barbican. I hold Ian in the highest esteem as a flute player (and person of course) because he uses the flute to create his own music, he doesn't just regurgitate other people's music. It was good to catch up with Ian after the show and talk about future plans ....
The magazine had been finished by Andy while I was away and he posted it off to our printers, the idea being that the final proofs would be waitng for me when I got back. They weren't. The package is still somewhere lost in the post. So there was a bit of a panic yesterday and we now seem to be back on track. I should sign off the final proofs on Monday morning and then the printing will be done.
So to future events ... I've been having a few meetings with various people plus telephone converstaions and emails flying around about the possibility of another Flutewise Live! What do you think? Let's get a discussion going on the forum please.
