Fife session 2
We had our second fife workshop today for my lovely new fife players. Unfortunately we only had 4 people today as one was ill. Our aim today was to make sure they all understood the embouchure exercises and the 3 points of balance (holding the fife) and that they could get a note. All of this needed to be recorded on video as well as photographed. For 6 to 9 year olds, this was quite a tall order, but they did it! I'm not sure if this happened because the children knew they were being videoed or whether it was because they are just totally brilliant, but whatever the reason Emma, Emma and I were well impressed.
They were all so good we even managed to learn the notes BAG. I was so proud of them all.
The great thing is they are all really excited about continuing, but that won't be until next week. It will be really interesting watching their progress and development.
I could share a big secret with them today - we are getting a new fife! I've promised them they will be the very first people in the world to use the new ones when they arrive. They saw the sample one I have and they were so excited! I'm just sad that we didn't get that bit on video.
Emma and Emma did a great job again today helping me, so a big thanks again to them. I just can't wait to see my fife players next week!

We all had a lovely time - and as you say, Liz, all of the new fife players did excellently! I was very impressed by the sounds they were making. I look forward to hearing how things go next week!
